Three Questions to Explore Before Launching Your Business

You want to turn your passion into a business.

It seems like a great idea, and at the core - it is.

If you love a product or service, it’s likely that others will love it too.

I firmly believe that you have the ability to create your own business and build your legacy. There’s always a way if you feel strongly enough about the path that you want to create and the people that you want to help.

The big question is – how do you build the foundation for a strong launch and sustainable growth of the business?

Try starting with these key questions: Why? What? How?

Let’s break it down into more detail:

 Why should the business exist?

There’s a reason that you want to start your business! Simon Sinek reminds us to “Start With Why,” and I agree wholeheartedly. There’s something special that is motivating you to start the business.

What do you want to accomplish with the business?

The business is going to make a difference to someone or something. Maybe it impacts the community, a specific group of people, animals or the environment. The list of possibilities is endless. What will make your business memorable?

How will you make your business stand out from the rest?

There are several factors here. The business is a culmination of the products, services, style and attributes that you value. Try creating a list of 5-10 descriptors that emphasize the ways that you want customers to view your business. For instance, maybe your business will reflect kindness, timeliness, professionalism, creativity, or warmth.

Defining your why, what and how will form a strong basis for your mission, vision and core values!

These questions often require a fair amount of deep thought and reflection. If you have a business partner, collaborative discussion is important too! It can be time consuming, but it is an important investment into the future of your business. It’s the pre-work that prepares you to become a successful entrepreneur. Spending the time is worthwhile, I promise:

 ·         You will have greater clarity about your business’ reason for being.

·         You will have a greater understanding of where you want to go in the future.

·         You will be able to differentiate your business from others in your industry.

·         Added bonus  – you will have plenty of content to being building your website, social media profiles and marketing materials.

If you would like an objective brainstorming partner, let’s connect. As a successful small business owner myself, I know how important it is to lay a strong foundation for your business. It would be my honor to help you feel confident about pursuing your passion!
